How far would you go to ensure your secrets remain buried?

When James Blakely agreed to work as Jezebel Tate’s bodyguard, he offered everything he had to keep her safe, but he hadn’t expected her to claim his heart. A year later, James’s hidden past has emerged from the shadows, threatening everything James has fought to protect.

Jezebel believes the demons that haunt James extend far beyond Living Light, the birth place of the massacre that claimed his family. In an effort to mend his fractured soul, Jezebel insists he confronts those demons, but James fears what she doesn’t know can kill her.

In this thrilling conclusion to the Pieces of Me duet, James must confront his past–before it claims his soul.

Review:

I am hardly surprised, but Danielle Rose has done it once again. She has managed to mix together a perfect blend of erotic romance and suspense to create a book that is very difficult (if not impossible) to put down once you start reading.

Lies We Keep, the first novel in the Pieces of Me duet was told from Jezebel Tate’s point of view. Truth We Bare is told from James Blakley’s point of view and gives us much more insight into his past than the first novel.

I love that we get to see things from James’s point of view. His past is full of mystery and we only broke the ice in Lies We Keep. We are taken back to his younger years, where he grew up in a religious community called Living Light and how it went from a peaceful group to a horrific nightmare in a short period. James is confronted with his past, and what I really enjoyed, was that he acted realistically. Danielle Rose knows how to write a well rounded character that is relatable.

The romance in this novel is steamy and swoon worthy. While there are secrets between Jezebel and James, the relationship as a whole is beautiful. It is clear how much they care for each other and how much they help each other overcome the devastation of their pasts.

This is definitely a page turner. I flew through the novel, and I was never bored. Every scene propels the plot forward and I devoured every word.

Wrap-Up:

I loves Lies We Keep and I love Truth We Bare so much. It’s a perfect blend of everything you’d want in a novel and I can’t wait to see what is next for Danielle Rose!

*Blog Tour* Lies We Keep by Danielle Rose – Review

Hi everyone!

Today I will be talking about author, Danielle Rose’s newest novel, Lies We Keep.

All the buy links and links to Danielle Rose will be listed at the end of this review. Be sure to check her out and definitely, pick up your copy of Lies We Keep.

Title: Lies We Keep

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

When your soul shatters, how will you pick up the pieces?

Jezebel Tate’s writing career has reached success few experience, but when the light of fame shines too bright, Jezebel is cast back into the shadows, where she’s forced to ask herself what happens when admiration becomes obsession.

James Blakely is running from his past. A broken man haunted by a deadly mistake, James reluctantly accepts a position as Miss Tate’s private security and finds himself a pawn in her game of seduction.

When their worlds collide, Jezebel and James must decide how far they’ll go to escape the sins of their pasts.

Review:

Danielle Rose is able to paint a vivid picture no matter what genre she is writing in. This romantic contemporary is much different than her paranormal romance, the Blood Wars trilogy, but it still contains that intense, edge of your seat, thrill she is known to write.

Lies We Keep follows Jezebel Tate, who is an incredibly accomplished author. Of course, that’s all well and great until a stalker, who up until this point seemed like an obsessive fan, becomes a much larger threat. Jezebel hires James Blakely to be her live-in body guard.

Jezebel is instantly drawn to James. The romance aspect of Lies We Keep is definitely steamy, but so well written. When reading contemporary romance, I sometimes find myself rolling my eyes through the romance scenes, but Danielle Rose’s writing craft is impeccable, and she is able to keep you interested the entire way through.

This is definitely a page turner. We are given bits and pieces of important info throughout the story, but we don’t fully get it until we are at the climax and that is what you want when you pick up this kind of book. It’s raw, and nailbiting, and I found myself very attached to the characters and their lives from the first few pages.

Wrap-up:

This is one you don’t want to miss. It’s exciting the entire way through and you won’t want to put it down until the last page.

Blood Rose (Book #1 Blood War Trilogy) – Book Review

Another review of a Danielle Rose book. This is the first in the Blood War trilogy (which you can pick up for $.99 on Amazon still- prices go up soon!).

As stated in my last review, you can find more info on Danielle Rose here.

Blood Rose
Book 1 in the Blood War trilogy
Danielle Rose

Synopsis (taken from Amazon): ”
Avah Taylor has been given a death sentence: as one of the only spirit users in her coven, Avah has been chosen to wield The Power, the ultimate weapon against the immortal vampire species witches have been at war with for centuries. The Power, given by the gods to one witch of each generation, is considered a great honor, but every witch before has died trying to master this all-too-powerful gift, one that the shell of a mortal can’t contain for long.

On the night of her birth rite, Avah’s coven is attacked, and Avah is left for dead. Confronted with a terrible choice, Avah must decide to either die or save herself by becoming like her enemies. Forced to seek refuge among the very beings she has sworn to kill, Avah vows revenge on those who took her former life from her.

As Avah slowly transitions into a life of blood and war and battles her own feelings for a man she is supposed to hate, she realizes everything she’s been told is a lie.”

Review:
This first book is fantastic. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and it kept me wanting to read more.

Avah is such a great character. Danielle Rose does a great job creating a kick ass heroine who has some flaws and vulnerabilities without being a complete damsel in distress. I find that such an endearing quality for characters to have – there are still flawed people (or vampires in this case), but they rise above their fear when the time comes instead of hiding behind their love interest the entire time.

Speaking of love interests. Without spoiling too much, the love interest is yet another very well developed character. The love does come quickly, but it is described in such a compelling and beliveable way, that it never felt like the “insta love” nonsense we see in some books.

Overall, the characters were well developed and the plot moved at a quick pacs. The world building is great – I could see the places vividly in my imagination, and that’s one of my favorite parts about the book.

I definitely suggest if you enjoy paranormal romance, that you go pick up the kindle version of the Blood War trilogy quickly, while it is still on sale. It’s worth the time to read, I promise!

I was twenty-four years old when I was told my life was no longer truly mine.

BLOOD ROSE RATING: 5/5☆

The next book in the series is titled Blood Magic. I will be reviewing as soon as I finish reading. I also realized today, I forgot to review another book I read a while back that I think is worth checking out – that review *MIGHT* go up tomorrow.

I hope you have a great 4th of July weekend. I will talk to you soon!!

Daemon Academy – Book Review

Hey all,

Long time no post. Here’s a review for you. 🙂

I came across Danielle Rose on Facebook because she was having a release party for her third book in her Blood War trilogy. I’ve been trying to catch up on her work since. I just finished the first book in the Blood War series, but I wanted to review her short story – Daemon Academy first.

Learn more about Danielle Rose: www.Danielle-Rose.com

Daemon Academy
Danielle Rose
A Horror Short Story

Synopsis (taken directly from Amazon): “Kemper Academy is over a hundred years old, but it has only recently reopened after a series of murders and stories of hauntings shut it down. Avlynn, a new student, refuses to let the rumors scare her, chalking them up to a bit of friendly freshman hazing. But when night falls and screams draw her from her room, she finds the truth is much more horrifying than any ghost story.”

Review:
I don’t generally read short stories. Not because I find fault with them, they just aren’t the first thing I grab at. That being said, this short story was FANTASTIC. Call me a wimp, but I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I read this.

Supposedly, the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is at its thinnest on Halloween.

It is short (I believe 14 pages), but Danielle Rose is able to develop characters, develop setting, and move the plot along in those 14 pages. Side note: I also love the name Avlynn. It’s just so unique. Anyway, back to the review. The plot is not predictable in the least, although I did try to guess what was happening. I was way off. My favorite thing is it’s a horror that doesn’t depend on gore to get the point across. It’s part of the reason horror movies disappoint me so often. I don’t equate gore with being scared – I equate it with feeling sick! This short story scares the pants off you without making feel queasy. I think this is definitely worth a read! It’s available on Kindle. Check it out. 🙂

DAEMON ACADEMY RATING: 4/5☆
