Happy Sunday. I hope your weekend is going well. I found this tag here. Once again, I apologize that the picture quality isn’t the best.

Enjoy. 🙂

• Find a classic

I sadly don’t have any classics on my shelf. 😦

• Find a book with a key on it

I also failed to find a book with a key on it. 😦

• Find something on your bookshelf that’s not a book

These were on my cake for my wedding shower. 🙂

• Find the oldest book on your shelf

• Find a book with a girl on the cover

• Find a book that has an animal in it

• Find a book with a male protagonist

• Find a book with only words on it

• Find a book with illustrations in it

It has maps in it…it’s as close as I could get.

• Find a book with gold lettering

My camera sucks, but this is definitely gold.

• Find a diary (true or fictional)

Not really a diary, but it’s her story.

• Find a book written by someone with a common name (like Smith)

• Find a book that has a closeup of something on it

• Find a book on your shelf that takes place in the earliest time period

I mean, it’s about time travel, so, it kind of works.

Okay, I cheated a little.

• Find a non-YA book

That’s all I have for you today. If you participate in the tag, be sure to let me know. I’d love to see your answers.

The Blogger Tag

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday!

I found this tag here. Please note, a couple questions felt like they were for vlogging, so I took them out and added one new question.

As always, if you’d like to participate, I tag you! 😊

1. Where do you blog?

Sometimes, I blog from my “office,” (A desk in the living room) and sometimes I blog from bed (using my phone).

2. Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?

I kind of just wing it here. Sometimes I watch or read something I want to review or I find a tag that seems fun. Sometimes, I am going through something in life that seems worth talking about. My blog topics come from all sorts of places.

3. How long does it take you to write a blog post?

Somewhere between 15 minutes to an hour. Depends on what I am doing. A tag will take less time and planning than a review or advice piece. Also, most of my poetry was written way back, so I just copy and paste for that.

4. Do you plan blog posts?

Sometimes. If I’m having a good week, I will have each post wribloggingtten and scheduled for a specific day. Other weeks, I’m scrambling to get one written a couple hours before posting. I’m a mess.

5. Do you use a notebook to track your ideas?

Not really for the blog. I use a notebook to record dreams I think would make interesting stories or add to the story I’m currently writing.

6. What is your favorite type of post to write?

I really enjoy any time I get to speak about y work in progress, Alter Reach.

7. Who knows about your blog?

Family and friends. I make it pretty public.

8. Are you an organized or messy blogger?

Mostly messy.

9. Biggest blogging pet peeve?

Random comments that are clearly spam.

10. Favorite part of blogging?

Meeting other awesome bloggers and sharing stories and opinions with them.

I hope you have a great Friday! It’s snowy and cold (-25 with the wind chill) here, so I will just be trying to keep warm.

The Very Merry Christmas Tag

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas Eve! I found this tag here. As usual, let me know if you do the tag, so I can read your answers! 😊

1. What are your feelings on Black Friday shopping?

It shouldn’t start on Thanksgiving day. I think that is such a cruel thing department stores do to their employees (And I can complain, I worked black Friday quite a few times). It’s sad that people can’t wait until Friday to get that “big deal.” So, I never shop on Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, we might go out in the afternoon, but I’m an online shopper. So, I find the online deals and then shop online, Cyber Monday too.

2. Favorite gift you’ve ever given?

That’s a tough question, because I genuinely enjoy giving gifts. So, I’m going to cheat and say, every gift I’ve given, that someone actually enjoyed, was a favorite.

3. Christmas cards, yay or nay? If you send them out, what style do you go with?

I try to send Christmas cards, but it doesn’t happen every year (it did this year though!). I generally try to find a traditional set to send. I’m also a card giver, so anyone who gets a present from me, gets a card.

4. If you were a Christmas elf, what would your specialty be? Reindeer wrangler, chief decorator, toy-maker, gift wrapper, baker or management?

Probably reindeer wrangler or baker. Definitely NOT gift wrapper. Everyone knows when I wrap gifts (And not because they are nicely wrapped!).

5. Egg nog…do you pour it in a tall glass or throw it in the trash?

I hate egg nog, but I can’t throw it out because hubby loves it.

6. What is your decorating style? Classic red and green, shabby chic, country/farmhouse, etc? Does your style change from year to year?

Mine is definitely classic. But we live in an apartment, so I can only do so much. It’ll be interesting to see how my style changes with a house.

7. Favorite childhood Christmas memory?

Waking my parents up at some unreasonable hour to unwrap gifts, haha.

8. If you could borrow Santa’s sleigh, where in the world, would you go?

Hm. I really want to see Ireland. So, that’s probably where I would head to!

9. Favorite ornament? Shown it, if possible.

Sorry for the crap quality picture. This is my favorite ornament because it’s very similar to my tattoo and it means a lot to me. My mom passed away when I was 18. She loved frogs, so my tattoo and this ornamen are commemorations to her. A frog angel flying to heaven, saying peace. The peace sign is a representation of my favorite picture of mom and me. I’ll show you my tattoo and the picture I’m talking about:

That’s all I have for you today. The next couple days will be super busy, but I’ll be sure to do a post all about it on Tuesday. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy your day tomorrow. MERRY CHRISTMAS! ♡

Thanksgiving Day & My Pet Tag!

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it). Unfortunately, I’m still not feeling the best so it was a rough day…but I pushed through it and still had fun.

No crazy stories for you other than I had two turkey dinners. My husband and I are blessed to get along with both of our families. I have a huge family and he has a very small family, but we always see both sides on Thanksgiving and Christmas. So we started out at my parents from 12-4, and then we headed to Paul’s parents and stayed the rest of the night (where Paul’s cousin and I dominated at Euchre 4-0 😂).

It was a good day. I love our families. How was your day?

For the second half of this post, I wanted to do this really cute tag I found here! We can’t have my dog in our appartment because of breed restrictions and the fact that she LOVES to run, so she lives with my parents. That doesn’t stop us from sneaking her over to stay on weekends sometimes, so of course, she’s here now. 😊

My Pet Tag

1. What is your pets name?

2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?

Cheyenne is a lab/pitbull mix. Partly why she can’t live in our apartment, which is so unfortunate because the worst she would do is lick you to death.

3. How long have you had your pet friend?

Cheyenne came into our lives in September, 2009 ♡

4. How did you get your pet?

I had been searching for a dog for a while. I worked at a doggy daycare that, at the time, was fostering two great dogs. One of them was a beautiful white husky, named Luke. I was ready to put the application in when my aunt called my dad asking if we were still looking for a dog.

She was driving along when the car in front of her threw something out of the window. My aunt was pretty sure it was a puppy, so she pulled over and that’s how I got my baby. Fate. ♡

5. How old is your pet?

She’s 8.

6. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?

You’d have to meet her, she has the best personality. Remember when I mentioned she would lick you to death? I wasn’t kidding. This dog loves to lick. If you’re not into being licked, don’t go bare foot around her.

She also loves her beauty rest. At 9PM, she will go lay in bed. And then huff and whine until you come in.

Food is her best friend. If you even think the words “treat,” “cookie,” or “food,” she will be at your feet. She knows the people who will sneak her food and won’t, and she stays by those people that will for the most part (I’m a mean mom, according to Chey).

7. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?

Cheyenne is my best friend. She came into my life when I needed her. We saved each other.

8. What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?

There are so many. When I worked at that doggy daycare, I could bring her for free when I worked, which was the best. She got to play and socialize, and I wasn’t worried about her being home alone.

9. What are nicknames that you call your pet?

Chey. Kid. Little girl. Bum (Paul and his family call her that for the most part).

That’s all I have for you today. Let me know about your Thanksgiving day and if you do the pet tag.

Giving Thanks – Book Tag

Hi everyone! I wanted to do this tag now because I won’t be posting tomorrow or Thursday.

I’m still feeling completely awful, so I’m still home. Today and tomorrow, I am going to write all day.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be winning NaNoWriMo this year, but I’m immensely impressed with what I was able to accomplish while feeling so terrible.

Thanksgiving Day is always crazy and I will be sure to do a blog post on that, Friday.

Today, I wanted to do a Thanksgiving themed tag, which I found here. As always, I tag you if you d like to play along.

Giving Thanks Book Tag

Name a book that made you thankful you live in your world and not the book’s world.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Definitely not a world I would want to live in. The districts, poor and unhealthy…the Capital, naive and obnoxious…and, I would be the first to die in the Games.

Give thanks to a book that changed your perspective.

My Story by Elizabeth Smart. I very rarely pick up biographies and this one had reviews ranging from 1 star to 5. I went to a Woman’s conference with a group from work, and Elizabeth Smart was the speaker. After hearing her describe some of what happened to her, I immediately bought the book. While the writing isn’t the best, the story is heart-wrenching and inspiring all at once.

What character would you be thankful for if they were your significant other?

I’m cheating. Damon from The Vampire Diaries TV show. I haven’t read the books, but he’s always my answer. I know, he’s a pretty messed up character but the change he goes through during the entire story is so significant that I can’t help but love him.

What character would you say, “thanks but not thanks” to?

Akiva from Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I’m just…meh…about him. It isn’t that he’s a bad character or boring, he is just not my favorite.

Name a book that made you laugh out loud?

I don’t read a ton of comedic novels, however some of the banter in Eve: The Awakening by Jenna Moreci is hysterical. Specifically, Madison, Hayden and Heather with their “Mean Girls” attitudes.

Name a book that made you incredibly angry.

I’ve mentioned this before. I try very hard not to get angry with books (unless the reason it sucks is the atrocious writing). However, in school, we were forced to read The Butterfly Revolution by William Buttler… I threw the book across the room. The kids made decisions that just made me want to jump into the book and strangle them. 😲

Name one thing you are thankful for in the wordpress community.

Meeting people who are like minded. I love getting to know people who love to read and write as much as I do. It’s so fun to share our opinions, even when they differ. 😊

That’s all I have for you today. If you do the tag, let me know, so I can read your answers.

From my family to yours, have a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving!! 🦃

Halloween Book Tag

Before we get started, I just wanted to say thank you so much for the support! You guys are great. If you haven’t already, click here to enter my 100 Followers Giveaway for your chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card!

I love this time of year. I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this, but I couldn’t, so in honor of Halloween, I wanted to do a fun tag. I found this one here.

Stay tuned to the end of this post for a photo of my Halloween costume (I didn’t get the best photos from the Halloween party I went to the other night, but you’ll get the idea.)

Favorite Horror Book?

Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. I’ve loved every Stephen King book I’ve read, but something about Salem’s Lot stuck with me.

Scariest moment in a book you’ve read?

I don’t really want to spoil, and I can’t say this is the absolute scariest moment, but there was a scene in The Call by Peadar O’Guilin that made me turn the light on.

Have you dressed up as a book character for Halloween?

No. I tried to be Lara Croft from Tomb Raider once and ended up looking like a mix of Katniss from the Hunger Games and an unknown character from the Walking Dead. Last year, I dressed up as a book nerd though. That was cool.

What do you think your favorite fictional character would dress up as for Halloween?

Good question. Damon from the Vampire Diaries would probably go out as himself, and no one would question it.

What is your favorite type of horror (gore, psychological, etc.)?

I want a good story, and I want to be scared. I’m not a huge gore fan – I find movies like Saw to be unbearable, so you won’t find me watching the new Jigsaw movie. But, as long as there isn’t ridiculous amounts of gore, I’m in.

Recommend some Halloween Reads!

Anything Stephen King. The Call by Peadar O’Guilin is pretty fun so far.

Per usual, I tag anyone who wants to do the tag. Just let me know you did it, so I can read your responses!

Here’s my costume (I might wear this to work tomorrow!):

I love orange, and if I didn’t have a day job, I might just actually do this to my hair. Haha! The rest of the costume wasn’t pictured very well, so I won’t share the photos… but it was a black shirt, orange tutu, black and orange stockings and orange shoes. 😁

Are you dressing up? What will your costume be?

Thank you again for the support. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway. 😊

Writing Rituals Tag

Happy Friday! 😎

Quick, fun writing tag because I haven’t done one in a while. As always, I tag anyone who wants to participate. Just let me know in the comments so I can ready your response.

Writing Rituals Tag

When do you write? (Time of day, day of week)

Mostly in the afternoon, after work. I try to write something every day, except on Sunday.

How do you seclude yourself from the outside world?

It’s difficult in an apartment, but I have my own corner in the living room with a desk. I just have to force myself to stay off Twitter.

How do you review what you wrote the previous day?

I have a bad habit of editing as I go, so I’m constantly reading what I wrote and changing things. It’s why my process is slower than I’d like.

What song is your go to when you’re feeling uninspired?

I listen to a lot of instrumental music when writing. Songs with lyrics distract me. I don’t have a particular song that gets me out of a writing slump though.

What do you do when you find yourself struggling with writer’s block?

I step away and read a book or watch a tv show/movie.

What tools do you use when writing?

I have a couple go-to books that help when I’m struggling to find words. I have the emotions thesaurus and a book with writing prompts.

What is one thing you can’t live without during a writing session?

How do you fuel yourself when writing?

Chocolate. 😎

How do you know when you’re done writing?

I don’t really have an answer for this question. I’m finished writing when I’m finished. It’s not the same every night.

That’s all I have for you today. What are your weekend plans?

Finally Fall Book Tag!

Hi there!

Happy Wednesday. I wanted to do this tag because I love fall. I found it here.

Quick announcement: I’m almost to 100 followers! That is my first goal of many for this blog, and as soon as I hit 100, I plan to do a giveaway. Stay tuned for that! 😊

Finally Fall Book Tag

1. In fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting!

I’m going to go with Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor. The world building in this one is fantastic, and the setting is super vivid!

2. Nature is beautiful… but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.

I’m picking My Story by Elizabeth Smart. Very heavy, written by a very strong woman.

3. Fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new.

How to Make a Living as a Writing – James Scott Bell

4. In order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of.

Harry, Ron & Hermione will be a popular answer for this, but I’m going with it because it’s true.

5. The nights are getting darker: share a dark, creepy read.

The Call by Peadar O’Guilin. Review coming soon, but it’s a creepy one!

6. The days are getting colder: name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day.

I’m lame. I don’t really have a suggestion for this. Most short stories I’ve read have been creepy, haha.

7. Fall returns every year: name an old favorite that you’d like to return to soon.

I’ve been wanting to re-read The Hunger Games series.

8. Fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights: share your favorite cozy reading “accessories”!

Blanket and warm pumpkin spice chai latte. 🙂

As usual, I tag anyone who wants to participate, just let me know so I can read your answers.

All Hallows Write Tag

Hello! I hope you’re all having a great Monday (as great as a Monday can be).

I wanted to take quick second to say my thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by these terrible tragedies (hurricanes, shootings, etc.).

I found this tag here. I love Fall and Halloween is my favorite. I am excited to do a Halloween themed tag, and you can be sure it won’t be my last this month.

All Hallows Write Tag

The Rules:
#1 – Provide a BRIEF description of your novel before starting.

#2 – Don’t use the same character for more than 3 answers.

Brief Description of Alter Reach: Twins, Marci and Alyson journey to a world they were forced to forget and fight a battle they didn’t know was coming.

The Questions:

1. It’s Halloween night! What is your protagonist dressed up as?

Marci would probably be dressed up as

2. Who in your cast refuses to dress up and shows up to the Halloween party without a costume?

Astrid. She would find the entire idea of dressing up absurd, and she would probably spend the entire night scowling in the corner.

3. Which character wears the most outrageous costume, and what would it be?

Faelyn would find a way to be a dragon. She’d light an arrow on fire and pretend breathe fire at Zeke.

4. On Halloween, werewolves, vampires, and zombies are on the prowl. Which one of your characters gets caught in their clutches and which creature do they subsequently turn into.

Alyson would most certainly fall for a vampire’s seduction and become one. She’s a gullible one.

5. Who wins the contest for best costume?

Braston. He could come as himself and everyone would vote for him because he’s that awesome.

6. Who hands out toothbrushes to trick and treaters?

Eloise. She would be muttering about how terrible candy is.

7. Which two of your characters decide to pair up and do an angel/devil costume?

Jade would force Zeke to wear the devil costume and parade around telling everyone how angelic she is.

8. Someone is too scared to even attend the Halloween party. Who is it?

Hmm. Good question. Maybe Al. Only because he wouldn’t want to be seen by Zeke.

9. Who overdoses on Halloween candy and ends up sick.

Pierce, because he is doing anything to avoid the annoyed chatter of Astrid.

10. Which character is most likely to place a curse on someone and who would they curse?

Astrid. She hates this party, and she’d definitely curse Marci.

I tag anyone who wants to do the tag. Just let me know in the comments below so I can read your answers.

Bookish Scenarios Tag

Hi everyone! I’m super excited because my hubby and I decided to make this weekend a long weekend. I plan to spend lots of time with him but also get a lot of stuff done (like reading the books on my TBR for this month!). I wanted to do a quick tag tonight before diving back into reading. I found this tag on Katytastic’s YouTube channel.

Bookish Scenarios

1. You have to get rid of all your books and you can only keep one from each of these genres – contemporary, fantasy, non-fiction and one other genre of your choosing. What books do you keep?

Contemporary: I don’t read a ton of contemporary, so I am going to go with The Fault in Our Stars because it’s one of the only ones on my shelf.

Fantasy: Hmm. Tough one, but I will go wit The Lord of the Rings. Can we pretend the entire series is one book?

Non-Fiction: Six Days of Creation. Cool Christian science book.

Sci-fi (genre of my choice): Illuminae. Hands down. It might be my favorite book.

2. You’re at the bookstore and you hear a teenager telling their mom they don’t like to read, but their mom insists they pick something. You walk over and recommend a book you think is great for people who aren’t big on reading – what book is it?

Hmm. Good question. Maybe Harry Potter? It’s a fun read and I don’t think it’s too challenging.

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which book do you read to put yourself in a great mood?

Eve: The Awakening by Jenna Moreci. It’s such a kick-butt book. I love it.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years. What book would you most likely have caught yourself reading?

Twilight. Yeah, I was one of those.

5. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day trip and you have 1 hour to pack. Which book do you bring to read on the way?

I’m bringing Passengers, because I just started reading it and I can’t wait to finish it.

6. Your house has been robbed! Don’t worry – everyone is safe, but your bookshelf has been raided. What’s the book you really hope is safe?

Eve: The Awakening because it’s a signed copy and I don’t want to loose it. (Yes, I used this book for multiple answers).

7. Your friend borrows a book and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs

I’d say something, and ask for them to repurchase. If you’re borrowing my books, you best be nice to them.

That’s all I have for you tonight. As always, I tag you if you want to participate. Let me know in the comments if you do, I’d love to read your responses.
